Elzinga began releasing independently in 2013 and became a fixture of the scene with Hiraeth in 2014. He is credited with originating mallsoft — the branch that amplifies vaporwave's lounge influences to treat the mall as a large, soulless space of consumerism.
Palm Mall, his sixth album, arrived on 2 October 2014: nine tracks built from samples of elevator music, and routinely described as the definitive mallsoft record. He also records as Beutewaffen and 地球, and works across ambient and dreampunk as well as mallsoft.
He appears in the canon twice over — Wikipedia lists 猫 シ Corp. among the representative artists for signalwave as well, the branch that samples and distorts radio broadcasts, television programmes and station idents.
