Yung Bae
Cotton has been active since 2014, working in future funk and vaporwave, and is known for the Bae series — albums sampling American disco and funk alongside 1980s Japanese city pop. The run is long: Bae (2014), three records plus Bae: Side B in 2016, B4E (2017), Bae 5 (2019), Groove Continental across 2022–23, 6AE in 2024.
He signed to Arista Records in 2019, was named to Billboard's Dance Ones to Watch the same year, and has played Coachella. Collaborators include Nile Rodgers, Method Man, Mike Posner and Jon Batiste.
He is here as a boundary marker rather than a canonical figure. The techniques are recognisably future funk; the career is a mainstream pop career. Where you place him depends on whether you think the genre is a method or a scene.
