Dan Mason

Mason found acclaim in the heyday of the scene with Miami Virtual in 2015, working in vaporwave and hypnagogic pop, and later branching into mallsoft.

From 2018's Void onward he included his own vocals on many projects — which separates the work from most conceptions of traditional vaporwave, a genre built on other people's voices slowed past recognition.

That makes him a useful case for where the second generation went: the aesthetic held, the anonymity and the sampling did not.
