Question 06 / 09

Is it satire?

It is generally read as an ambiguous, ironic critique of 1980s–90s consumer capitalism and techno-utopianism — nostalgia for a glossy corporate future that never arrived, with the stillness of an abandoned shopping mall as its recurring image. The ambiguity is structural. The work rarely tells you where affection ends and the joke begins.
