Founded the label that defined the second wave
Hong Kong Express
Dream Catalogue was founded in January 2014 by HKE, initially in collaboration with t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者; he released 浪漫的夢想 under the Hong Kong Express moniker the same day. In its early years the label was widely regarded as the pre-eminent one in the genre.
He has released more than a hundred albums across various aliases through the label, and helped spawn hardvapour — the punkier, more aggressive offshoot that arrived in late 2015 as a reaction against vaporwave's calm.
As half of 2814 he set out to prove the aesthetic did not need samples at all. On the scale of that record's success: "I realize that I will likely never have any work become as popular as that again, but that's cool with me."
